Giclee (pronounced "jee-clay) is french for "to spray," giclée is the term commonly used for what is currently the most advanced digital fine art printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto various surfaces (watercolor paper, canvas, other fine art papers). The giclée printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction
Today, many artists are finding the value in reproducing their artwork using the Giclee method. The archival quality of pigmented inks and the reproduction accuracy of digital has made this method of reproduction the clear winner over offset lithography. An added benefit over offset is you no longer have to have hundreds of prints made at one time in order to make the process cost effective. Now you can carry a few prints in inventory and order prints as you need them keeping your up front cost lower.
